It’s easy to create your Carlow University Alumni login and to sign-in. Before you know it, you’ll be joining alumni groups, connecting with friends and registering for Carlow University Alumni events. You’ll also be accessing exclusive information and privileges for “alumni only.” We think you’ll enjoy this convenient way to connect with your alma mater. And if needed, we’re here to help with your technical concerns.

Alumni data is used only for Carlow University purposes, such as promoting alumni events and programming; fundraising; and institutional research, like accreditation, academic department assessment and other statistical measures that help program development. Carlow University will not sell your data. In addition, alumni contact information, demographic data and donor information is kept on our secure enterprise system and is not available to the public.

 

What is the Carlow University Online Community?

This Community is an interactive portal designed specifically with alumni in mind. With the portal you can:

  • update your personal University records and manage your alumni directory profile
  • search the alumni directory for classmates
  • Join an alumni group
  • notify the University about your areas of interest
  • register for events
  • receive targeted announcements
  • make secure online gifts
  • tell us your news and read class notes
  • exchange files, photos and links

Who can access the Carlow University Online Alumni Directory?

The Carlow University Online Alumni Directory is available only to degreed alumni at this time. New graduate records take approximately two months to be added to the community. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact Amy Schnarrenberger, Director of Advancement Data Services, at advancementservices@carlow.edu or 412.578.6273.

I have never logged in before. How do I gain access?

If you have never logged in, please follow these instructions below.

  1. Click on this link, or, return to the login page and click on “First Time Login”.
  2. Follow the steps to lookup your alumni record.
  3. When prompted, enter your Carlow ID. This is a seven digit number, including leading zeros. You can find this number on the label of a recent mailing or an email from the Alumni Association.

You will need to register only once to secure a username and password. All future logins will be quick and convenient!

How and why do I need to register?

For security purposes and to protect the privacy of alumni information, all alumni are required to register in order to obtain access to the Online Alumni Directory.

I have misplaced my username or password. How do I reset them?

Revisit the login page and click on the “Send My Username” or “Reset My Password” links. If you need additional assistance, please contact Amy Schnarrenberger, Director of Advancement Data Services, at advancementservices@carlow.edu or 412.578.6273.

What if I don't know my Carlow ID number?

This is a seven digit number, including leading zeros. You can find this number on the label of a recent mailing or an email from the Alumni Association. If you do not have access to a recent mailing or email, please click here to submit a request to the University Advancement Office or call 412.578.6273 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please allow one business day for a response.

Why do we keep alumni data?

To share news and events with you.

If we do not have your email address, we cannot send you our e-newsletters and information about our athletic teams, academic departments, upcoming events, class notes and other good news from alumni.

To measure the success of our programs and make revisions to our curriculum.

By knowing where our alumni work and what their job titles are, we are able to see how we are preparing graduates for the workforce. We continuously assess our curriculum to make sure that it is relevant and focused on our students’ success in their careers. Staying in contact with our alumni and their employers is one of the ways we make sure our programs are best serving our students.

Carlow University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and many of our individual departments are accredited by additional governing bodies. We look to alumni information to prove to these accreditors that our programs are indeed helping students to excel in their chosen work as compassionate, responsible leaders in the creation of a just and merciful world. We don’t share individual alumni information, but we do report how many of our alumni pursue graduate degrees and the types of career paths that our alumni take.

Throughout the year, we will share with you opportunities to support the areas of the university that matter most to you. Gifts from annual donors enable Carlow University to provide increased scholarship support, essential resources and funding for special projects.

What data do we collect?

In addition to primary contact information consisting of home address, home phone, email, so that we can communicate regularly with you, we work to collect the following information:

  • Primary contact information: home address, phone and email
  • Personal information that carries over from student records: degree, major, gender, birth dates, ethnicity, campus organization involvement and athletic affiliation
  • Work information: company name, job title, business address and industry
  • Family information: spouse name, spouse work information, children’s names, children’s educational information
  • Donor information: information regarding any donation that you’ve made or for which you receive credit
  • Alumni information: communication preferences and event attendance.

Data sharing policy

Carlow University will not sell your data or share it with any third party for any purpose that is not directly related to the university. In a situation where we do provide alumni data to a third party, it is only when we have a contract defining a service agreement. Use of our data is contractually limited to projects related to Carlow University, and any data must be returned or destroyed at the end of the contract. Before signing a contract with a third party, we review their security systems and practices so they are consistent with our standards.

Currently, we have a contract iModules Software, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri, for alumni web services and email marketing.

How do we keep the data secure?

All alumni contact information, demographic data, and donor information is kept on our secure Raiser’s Edge enterprise system which is hosted by Blackbaud in Charleston, South Carolina.
